The other day I saw a series about a supercriminal who controlled the world because he had sensitive information about powerful people. information powerPhoto rights by Fotolia Even though this is science fiction, there is one very real detail. Information is power. But obviously not just any kind. Knowing which club Justin Bieber spent Friday night in because you read about it in the tabloids like hundreds of thousands of others is of no use to you. Information is only available if these characteristics are met : It is not publicly available. Applying and/or owning it saves you money and/or makes you earn money. It gives you prestige and gives you access to places and people that interest you. Especially when you’re entering a new field, the sooner you get insider information, the sooner you’ll start making money. Now the million-dollar question is: How do you get it? The simplest answer, but the one you’ll like the least, is this: spend hundreds and thousands of hours on the subject . Only when you truly master a field will you be able to discover and find information that others have ignored. Another quicker but equally expensive option would be to buy the information whenever it is available. That is why market studies can cost between 500-5,000 euros or you can even make specific orders for 5,000-20,000 euros to obtain data on a specific topic that interests you. Being a human hub means you are always close to privileged information. Contacts are not only useful for reaching the people you are interested in, but also for knowing more and, above all, knowing things before the vast majority. Privileged information is rarely protected forever. The fact that you have access to it before means that you can take advantage of it while it still has value. Many times, the use of specific information means that it will no longer have the same value in the future because you directly or indirectly give access to third parties. The time factor is key once you have it in your possession. I started the post with a fictional scenario. There is also a real case that you have seen in theaters called “The Big Short” . It is by the way a very good movie to learn about the stock market, real estate, economics and it also serves as proof of my argument. Information is power.
